On the 20th of April, the COAG’s Energy Council released a discussion paper exploring how to transition to a ‘two-sided market’ for electricity in Australia’s National Electricity Market as part of the transition to ‘NEM 2.0’.
We’ve had several people raise concerns about the way in which the ESB’s Retailer Reliability Obligation (RRO) could inadvertently end up killing the form of demand response that’s supported the NEM over 15+ years and helped to maintain levels of security of supply at the levels we have experienced.
