Origin Energy comments on the ‘cost benefit assessment of the demand response mechanism’ consultation paper

On behalf of Origin Energy, Steve Reid – Manager of Wholesale Regulatory Policy; has submitted a response to the Department of Industry regarding the ‘cost benefit assessment of the demand response mechanism’ consultation paper. In his letter, he stated “If adopted, the DRM would result in a significant change in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and as such, there should be a sufficiently high threshold if it is to be implemented. In our view, this has not been met and it is clear that the case for implementation has not been made.”
